Through painting camouflage, a very painterly concept in itself, I went from painting the landscape on the soldier, to paint the one the he hides into. Eventually the soldiers disappeared, only implying their presence through the menacing beauty of the depicted urban jungle, with exacting and concentrated craftsmanship using blacks whites and greys, with intense evidence of the hand made process, adding to a kind of tension, a kind of unease.
